Soul Apothecary

Bartertown at DUMBO Arts Festival, Brooklyn, NY

This work was part of a multi-artist project (Bartertown) during which artists traded their services to the public in exchange for anything that participants had to offer (a song, a muffin, a story), excluding money. As the Soul Apothecary, Caston created for each participant a piece of their soul, placed in a small bag. The pieces were made from varying materials, such as twine, beads, and dryer lint. The artists made these compilations based on the stories participants told her about themselves, and the manner in which she interpreted their conversations.
